For most the origins of Avalon Station are unknown, it's true purpose lost to time, it is only the similarities to some of Cybertrons oldest ruins that give any hint of the stations original creator. Now eons after it's construction it would be easy to picture a derelict waste, crumbling as the lack of gravity left debris hanging around it. Such however could not be further from reality, even now it remained a masterwork, maintained to near-perfection the golden hull flared brightly under the nearest sun when the light hit just right. It was a shining beacon of what Cybertron had once been and was to many in the sector one of it's greatest beauties.
To those with valour in their heart and idealism guiding them then the thought of it's current owners was disheartening, known even outside of the current Sector; Sarune's Protectors where infamous. Formed sometime during the Age of Wrath, it was hard to pinpoint when exactly their namesake leader had first created the group, but their presence was certainly felt, first as a radical Anti-Quintesson security force and even further into its moral decline as a growing criminal empire. A transition that though having taken many years was now long passed with no way back.
Not that they particularly cared, the forces of Sarune's Protectors sometimes referred to as The Protectorate where powerful. Far beyond most pirate groups that remained, their Pirate Queen had guided them through moments of discord into a position of power. Such that it was often said the stability of the sector was determined not by the Decepticon garrison nor the threat of invading Autobots but rather the owner of Avalon's golden throne.
